Close your eyes and just Breathe

Just breathe is what I need to tell myself more often, right? When was the last time you actually took a LONG LONG breath? The last time you really felt your mind go blank and focused only on your breath? Has it been that long? Or never done it?

Just recently I have acquired the ability to mediate. I’m not expert yet - though. Believe it or not, I thought for the longest time (years to be exact) that this whole thing was a joke or useless to say the least. I was a non-believer. What a waste of time really! I’m running around like a crazy woman and you want me to stop all of this and just learn how to breathe? ARE you kidding me?

Well, after much thought and to say the least after many recommendations from family, friends, coaches, etc telling me meditation does indeed work - I decided to finally give it a try. OK..ok….I’ll very very honest… and I’ll confess…. I decided only after my right eye started to twitch almost everyday and I almost had a panic attack…. Then, I decided to give it a try!

However, I came with a approach that would be realistic to whom I am. I decided to take baby steps - and medicated for only 3 minutes. I did not want to fail, so I set my goals really REALLY low. 3 mins daily when I wake up. Forget about anything else, I will do this every morning. Some days I fail, others I rock, but at least I know…. Carmen, Just Breathe!
